Our bookkeeping is a good example. This service is delivered from an accountant's perspective and provides the kind of expert assistance that is beyond the capability of ordinary bookkeepers. Yet we only charge normal bookkeepers' rates for this.

Principal & Director, Vivienne Yang, MCom CPA

Accountability1 Principal & Director Vivienne Yang is a qualified Certified Practising Accountant with more than 10 years experience in commercial accounting and public practice areas. She specializes in providing help in accounting, taxation and business services to small and medium sized enterprises.

Vivienne began her career in China before coming to Australia in 1998 where she gained her Master of Commerce (Accounting & Commercial Law) at Sydney University. She then worked for DBM Australia, the world's largest outplacement agency, where she was instrumental in the rapid development of their accounting systems. In 2001, Vivienne set up her own accounting consultancy providing business advice, tax planning and tax return services, and this has led logically to the establishment of Accountability1.

She now focuses her abilities on business services, accounting and taxation and she has worked within these fields for a number of important chartered and CPA firms, covering a broad range of industries from retail and wholesale to building development and manufacturing.

Amongst the many consultancy roles she has undertaken, Vivienne has been Financial Controller of an ASX listed international company with offices in Australia and China. Reporting to the CEO and managing a 5-person finance team, she was responsible and accountable for financial performance indicators which included budgeting, cash flow, forecasting and business planning, and monthly and annual management reporting and analysis.

She has also acted as a senior corporate Finance Manager working closely with the management team and reporting to the Managing Director. Here Vivienne's very broad range of responsibilities included improving profitability, helping to drive the commercial aspects of the business, overseeing the full finance function, assisting with commercial decisions and improving and enhancing processes and systems.

In 8 years working with chartered organizations, Vivienne has gained invaluable knowledge in a number of key areas. Her breadth of experience uniquely qualifies her to quickly appraise situations and consult with confidence on the widest possible range of financial topics.

She also has the added advantage over most accountants of having successfully established and operated two demanding retail businesses - a mid-sized service station and a car wash. This has given her an understanding of commercial issues beyond accounting and of the importance of sound business strategy and good customer relations.

Vivienne combines her many skills with a warm, confident nature and a naturally friendly attitude towards everyone she works with.
